Biodegradable waste : economic assessment of collection-biological treatment options

Mechanical biological treatment (acronym MBT) plants combine mechanical sorting and biological treatment (composting, stabilization and anaerobic digestion) stages. The objectives of these plants are to reduce landfill waste, increase valorization and limit environmental impacts. The main objective of the study, named ECOBIO, carried out jointly by the CEMAGREF and VEOLIA Environmental Services is to provide technical and economic assessments of biodegrable waste collection options, in order to help decision-makers to choose the most appropriate technological system according to local situations. The application tool is carried out on different areas with different collection-biological treatment scenarios.
