Automation of field tractor and man machine interface evolution : the concept of a step by step process

The number of electronic devices is increasing in tractor cab, and that could generate a stress on the driver. In some cases, he doesn't inform himself of his running work characteristics. The supervisor , an onboard computer, will substitute these electronic boxes, by collecting the different data from the sensors of the tractor. Its goals are to filter these informations, and then displaying the most appropriate of them. It provides advices for better adjustments of the tractor-implement system. According to its level of evolution, the supervisor will manage itself automatisms and collect data for a better economical management of the work in plots. The paper presents the concept of the supervisor for an agricultural tractor and its levels of evolution. / L'augmentation du nombre des boîtiers électroniques à bord du tracteur agricole peut engendrer une sollicitation de plus en plus croissante de l'attention de l'agriculteur. Dans certains cas, l'agriculteur ne cherche même plus à s'informer des caractéristiques dynamiques de son travail, car il se trouve saturé d'informations qui lui arrivent en continu. Le superviseur va remplacer ces boîtiers électroniques : il va filtrer, afficher et interpréter les informations sous forme de conseils à l'agriculteur, par le biais d'un écran embarqué, qui prendra différentes configurations selon l'opération culturale en cours. Suivant son niveau d'évolution, le superviseur va pouvoir gérer des automatismes de conduite. Un exemple de supervision est présenté ici.
