POSSIBLE CAUSE OF EXCESS SLUDGE REDUCTION IN AN OXIC-SETTLING-ANAEROBIC ACTIVATED SLUDGE PROCESS (OSA PROCESS)
Practical approach of the reduction of excess sludge using oxic-settling-anaerobic (OSA) process. Performance of an OSA system in terms of excess sludge production, substrate removal capability, effluent quality, and sludge settleability. In addition to the energy spilling theory, domination of slow growers microorganisms, soluble microbial products and sludge decay are pointed out. Experimental results are presented and discussed.
