INTEGRATING BIODIVERSTIY CONCEPTS WITH GOOD GOVERNANCE TO SUPPORT WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN SOUTH AFRICA
In this paper, the authors explore the potential implications of adopting a kind of interdependence philosophy as a basis for sustainable water resource management in South Africa. First, they consider the concepts of biodiversity and how these relate to ecosystem processes within the hydrological cycle. This is followed by an examination of the concepts and definition of good governance in the context of water resource management. Lastly, they discuss how the understanding of governance and of biodiversity concepts might be better aligned to ensure that water resource management approaches meet the needs of society in South Africa.
