IOWater is coordinating this capacity building project, focusing on the one hand on hydrological monitoring (Congo-HYCOS project) and, on the other hand, on transboundary planning for supporting the drafting of the Master plan for water development and management (“SDAGE”) of the Congo River Basin.
CICOS and the National Hydrological Services of its four Member States (Hydrological Research Centre in Cameroon, National Meteorological Directorate in Central African Republic, Research Group in Natural Sciences in Congo and Waterways Board in the Democratic Republic of Congo) have benefited from training sessions in operational hydrology and from an awareness seminar . The project activities also accompany CICOS in developing its “SDAGE”. The aspects related to public participation are particularly developed.
IOWater coordinates the activities of the project and is the main contact for the different beneficiary partners, and for partners in implementation.
The main mission of IOWater is to support CICOS through the transfer of expertise and experience in the field of hydrology and watershed management. During the project, several training workshops and seminars are organized and led by IOWater experts. These workshops are common to CICOS and to its four member states.
For each session IOWater staff is responsible for the smooth running of the program as well as of all matters relating to the organization and logistics, or the technical and educational content of workshops and seminars.
