Restoration of Acipenser sturio in Germany: III A new approach of measuring food preference in juvenile fish

The European sturgeon Acipenser sturio is highly endangered. Recovery of this population by natural reproduction does not seem probable. Therefore a restoration program should include artificial reproduction and supportive measures in order to stabilize stocks. As part of a cooperation programme between France and Germany aiming at the restoration of A. sturio in German waters, 40 juveniles were obtained from the Cemagref in 1996 for behavioral studies (Staaks et al., 1999) and as a basis of a broodstock to be reared in captivity. / Des études de comportement pouvant servir de base pour élever des esturgeon en captivité sont menées en Allemagne sur 40 jeunes poissons fournis par le cemagref.
