Le réseau Repamo : un outil de surveillance de la santé des mollusques marins élevés et sauvages (acte)
Created in 1992, the Repamo network (REseau de PAthologie des MOllusques Mollusc Pathology Network) is in charge of the surveillance and monitoring of the marine molluscs health status along the French coast. It has a regulatory mission (European legislation 91/67 and 95/70) as well as a public service activity under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries through the DPMA. It aims at preventing the introduction and propagation of pathogenic agents, in particular the noticeable agents, and monitoring the evolution of those already present on the national territory. These activities are part of the institutional missions of the Ifremer. The missions of the network are the following: 1) surveillance of the evolution of noticeable diseases present in France (flat oyster bonamiose and marteiliose), 2) study of abnormal mortalities, 3) surveillance of the health status of mollusc populations out of mortality periods. The targeted populations are both cultivated shellfish and natural shellfish deposits, exploited or not. The Repamo network appeals to Ifremer's coastal correspondents in charge of the collection of mollusc samples and of the samples history. The coordination team, established in Ifremer's genetics and pathology laboratory (LGP) in La Tremblade, is in charge of the synchronization of the activities of the different participants, their information and training, the development and update of the network's surveillance strategy and, last but not least, the exploitation of the results of the analysis subcontracted to the analytical branch of the LGP (5,000 analyses/year). A database and an intranet website managed by two agents of the Ifremer contribute to the spreading of the information and the optimisation of the network's activities. The network is in contact with professionals and their representatives (CNC, SRC, unions), the expert authority (DPMA Office of Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture, and its decentralised services, DDAM Office of Local Marine Affairs) and Ifremer's research teams.
