Campange Misedor: Etudes sedimentologiques et geochimiques du detroit de Makassar (Indonesie)
The aim of this oceanographic cruise, included in this GIS MISEDOR project was to study the distribution and evolution of the organic matter in the Strait of Makassar, within a distance ranging from the Mahakam delta to the abyssal plain. The particularity of the strait lies in its morphostructural aspect and climatic trend. It is a half-closed basin situated at the far end of the Asiatic (passive margin of Borneo) and Indo-Australian plates (active margin of Sulawesi). Its geographical proximity to the Equator accounts for the very few climatic variations during the Quaternary, a period characterized only by glacio-eustatic fluctuations of the sea level.
