WATER QUALITY : NONPOINT-SOURCE POLLUTION
This Note looks at diffuse sources of water pollution, including the causes and effects of nonpoint source pollution; successful approaches to managing nonpoint sources (NPS); physio-chemical and biological techniques for monitoring NPS; and the integration of policy-level and local-level actions needed to tackle NPS. Of these, community involvement is critical because of the difficulty of identifying and impossibility of monitoring the myriad sources that, by definition, constitute NPS.
