SUCCESSIVE IDENTIFICATION OF BIODEGRADATION RATES FOR MULTIPLE SEQUENTIALLY REACTIVE CONTAMINANTS IN GROUNDWATER

BEARC J. / PETERSEN J. N. / SUNA Y. - ARTICLE DE PERIODIQUE - 2001
Description of stoichiometry and sequential reactions in a batch reactor with analytical solution of a first order reactive transport. Description of flowchart of successive identification with transport parameters and observed concentrations. Successive optimization methods are applied to an hypothetical case of PCE, TCE, DCE and VC biodegradation in a 3D aquifer domain. Objective function and design varaiables versus iteration are done. Initial guesses and best estimates of reaction rates are discussed. Calibration and biodegradation rates from field data are evaluated with comparison of observed and simulated concentration profiles.
