SOLARE TROCKNUNG VON FLUSSIGSCHLAMM IN KLEINEN KLARANLAGEN
Because of the high energy, investment, and disposal costs it requires, sewage treatment in small sewage treatment plants is relatively expensive. The present study tried to find out whether sludges that have not been subjected to preliminary mechanical dewatering can be dried to levels above 90% of dry solid matter thus allowing for a cost-effective incineration of these sludges. Conclusions of the experiments showed that, on average, each year about 2-3 m3 of sludge per m2 of surface could be dried from dry solid matter levels of 2-4 % to more than 90%. Specific energy requirements proved to be also very low.
