River basin management quality and quantity

Tokyo Waterworks Bureau (TWB) has been relying on the Tama river system as a water resource, including construction of reservoirs, management of the water conservation forest and conservation of water quality in the river basin for the purpose of stabilizing intake quantity and water quality. As a community service, TWB is also making improvements to mountain trails and also operating to control the temperature of water discharged from the dam as a countermeasure against cold water in the downstream river.
