REMOVAL OF FISH PATHOGENIC BACTERIA IN BIOLOGICAL SAND FILTERS

Bacteria in biological filter. In a wastewater treatment plant from a salmonid farm, fish pathogenic bacteria were removed by a biological sand filters. The study (30 days) shows a high level of elimination ( > 99.9 %) for all bacteria. This low cost system seems to be very promising as an alternative disinfection method.
