NATURAL ATTENUATION OF XENOBIOTIC ORGANIC COMPOUNDS IN A LANDFILL LEACHATE PLUME (VEJEN, DENMARK)

Presentation of landfill of municipal, industrial and chemical wastes with materials and methods for investigation. General hydrochemical parameters, sampling points and geology in the aquifer downgradient of landfill. Xenobiotic organic compounds composition from a leachate sample, toxicity tests and solid phase extraction are presented. Comparison of chloride and non-volatile organic carbon NVOC plumes and redox characterisation in wells and BTEX compounds distribution is commented. Spatial evolution of natural attenuation with degradation products and long term stationary on some 10 years is given.
