MODELING FLOW AND POLLUTANT REMOVAL OF WET DETENTION POND TREATING STORMWATER RUNOFF
A mathematical model of pollutant removal by wet ponds was developed based on the mass balance principle and the re-lease-storage equation. Substituting the release-storage equation into the continuity equation produces a non-linear ordinary differential equation (ODE). A Runge-Kutta method was used to solve the resulting non linear ODE. The pollutant removal and flow routing models were tested with data obtained from an actual wet pond for treating highway runoff.
