FATE OF EFFLUENT ORGANIC MATTER DURING SOIL AQUIFER TREATMENT : BIODEGRADABILITY, CHLORINE REACTIVITY AND GENOTOXICITY

ARNOLD R. G. / LANSEY K. E. / QUANRUD D. M. / et al. - ARTICLE DE PERIODIQUE - 2003
Biodegradability of effluent organics before and after soil aquifer treatment (SAT) are considered. Presentation of methods of sampling with waters obtained from the pond in recharge basins and well. Hydrophobic acid (HPO) and Transphillic acid (TPI) where isolated and evaluated for mutagenetic activity using the Salmonella/mammalian microsome reserve screening assay. Biodegradability , specific absorbance and chlorine reactivity are examined. Results and discussion on the fate of dissolved organic carbone during SAT. Kinetics of BDOC exertion is used for reconstitued groundwater HPO obtained from well. Analysis of relationships between biodegradability and specific ultraviolet light absorbance.
