An Evaluation of Environmental Valuation Databases around the World

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate these databases using a criteria, element, and indicator framework in order to shed light on those that exhibit the most favorable characteristics for a diverse set of users. The framework includes a rating scheme that allows for an easy comparison of key components in each database. The scheme is based on the performance of the indicators derived from key elements of each criterion. Based on the rating outcome of each database, recommendations are made for further improvements.
