EFFECTS OF TOXIC METALS AND CHEMICALS ON BIOFILM AND BIOCORROSION
Toxic heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Al, Cr) and chemicals (phenol, glutaraldehyde) increased the development of marine biofilms and the production of Extracellular Polymeric Substance (EPS) in microbial clusters - But no quantitative relationship with the degree of corrosion of steel samples was observed.
