EFFECTIVENESS OF SELECTED CHEMICALS FOR CONTROLLING EMISSION OF MALODOROUS SULFUR GASES IN SEWAGE SLUDGE
Laboratory study of the effect of sewage sludge treatment by various oxidants or redox buffers (ferric chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide and potassium nitrate) at 0, 30, 300 and 1000 ppm of each chemical to control or reduce emission of reduced slfur gases (hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, methanethiol, dimethyl sulfide and carbone disulfide). Potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide were shown to be the most effective.
