EFFECT OF FRACTIONATED NOM ON LOW-PRESSURE MEMBRANE FLUX DECLINES
The paper seeks to test whether high molecular weight hydrophilic natural organic matter compounds are the largest contributors to natural organic matter fouling. 2 water sources were used to isolate different components of natural organic matter (strongly and weakly hydrophobic acids, charged and neutral hydrophobilics, residual hydrophilics, hydrophobic bases). They were filtered through Memtec polypropylene (0,2 microm pore size) membranes and the fouling characteristics reported.
