DIRECT SIMULATION OF GROUNDWATER TRANSIT-TIME DISTRIBUTIONS USING THE RESERVOIR THEORY
Description of two methods to calculate transit-time distributions resulting from finite element groundwater flow modelling. Comparison of numerical and analytical results. Conceptual layered model is used for simulation of examples. Age mass-cumulative distribution is discussed after application in heterogeneous field with 2 and 3 layers. Increasing thickness of the low permeability layer and increasing depths are simulated.
