BIOFILM RESPONSES TO AGEING AND TO A HIGH PHOSPHATE LOAD IN A BENCH-SCALE DRINKING WATER SYSTEM

BATTE M. / KOUDJONOU B. / LAURENT P. / et al. - ARTICLE DE PERIODIQUE - 2003
Evaluation of the effect of ageing and of phosphate load on drinking water biofilms developed on polycarbonate subtraction in the pseudo-equilibrium state. The impact of biofilm age and phosphate addition on bacterial biomass exopolymer contents were investigated. Multiple parameters were monitored as heterotrophic plate counts, total direct counts and potential exoproteolytic activity. The application of a phosphate bends commonly used for corrosion control enhances accumulation of phosphate in the biofilm, but do not influence bacterial densities.
