ANAEROBIC TREATMENT OF HIGH SULFATE WASTEWATER WITH OXYGENATION TO CONTROL SULFIDE TOXICITY

Feasibility study of using oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) to regulate oxygen dosing for online sulphide oxidation control during anaerobic treatment of sulphate-rich synthetic industrial wastewater (1,000 to 6,000 mg/l) conducted in an upflow anaerobic filter. Direct oxygenation of the recirculated biogas was shown effective to oxidise sulphide and the use of ORP to regulate the oxygen dosing was practical and reliable during anaerobic treatment of high sulphate wastewater.
