Dear European water managers,

As Peer-to-Peer secretariat, the International Office for Water invites you to participate in a 2-hour on-line seminar on 19 September 2019 at 10 am C.E.S.T.

The definition of ecological potential has been the subject of long discussions between Member states and the Commission in the context of the CIS. Defining ecological potential is a challenging and complex subject in the implementation of the WFD.

A new Appendix to Guidance No.4 has been developed to provide detailed advice and further clarification by taking into account Member State feedbacks on Heavily modified water bodies (HMWB) designation and the definition of good ecological potential (GEP) established during the 1st and 2nd river basin management planning cycles. The webinar will introduce the key principles of this new Appendix. The with emphasis will be on a common practical framework for defining GEP, to work towards harmonising approaches between Member States.

Agenda and registration

This on-line seminar is aimed at all competent authorities and experts involved in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and Floods Directive (FD). Totally free of charge, it only requires internet access, and gives participants an opportunity to ask the presenters their questions.

If you are interested but cannot attend this webinar, let-us know and we will give you access to a video.

You are very welcome to forward this invitation to potentially interested colleagues.
