Essais de télécaptage de l'huître plate Ostrea edulis en Méditerranée. Bilan 1991

To meet the demand of the Region Languedoc-RoussiIlon for developing the culture of the european flat oyster Ostrea edulis as a diversification of traditional and off-shore bivalve molluscs cultivation techniques, a first series of experiments on the remote-setting of this species was conducted at the IFREMER Station of Palavas. The objective was to adapt this technique, mainly utilized with the cupped oyster Crassoslrea gigas, to the flat oyster in the Mediterraean conditions, and to assess the growtfi performances of the spats and juveniles supplied through this method. The trials concerned the production of pediveligers, the settlement in controlled conditions, the nursery and pre-growing stages performed on off-shore culture bottom containers, yielding juveniles further grown-out either with the traditional suspension technique in coastal lagoons, or on off-shore bottom facilities.
