A PILOT STUDY OF CONSTRUCTED WETLANDS USING DUCKWEED (LEMNA GIBBA L.) FOR TREATMENT OF DOMESTIC PRIMARY EFFLUENT IN ISRAEL
Wastewater treatment by constructed wetlands. Duckweed (Lemna gibba L.) was used in a pilot unit to remove pollutants of a domestic effluent. In a first time hydraulic residence time was determined and found about 4.3 days for a an average flow ate close to 0.234 m3/d. BOD and suspended solid were remove with a high level. Nitrogen removal was 10-20 % and phosphorus was negligible. 95 % removal was found for faecal coliform.
