Implementation schedule 2018-2021: Phase III Project financed by Adour-Garonne Water Agency Detailed project description The cooperation programme for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Colombia is being implemented by the Adour-Garonne Water Agency and the Integral Directorate of Water Resources (DGIRH) of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS), as well as the pilot Regional Autonomous Corporations (CORPOBOYACA and CORPOCHIVOR). The project receives technical assistance from the International Office for Water. Currently in Phase 3 (since the end of 2018), the project continues and deepens the different working themes: 1. Monitoring and guiding the National Policy for Integrated Water Resources Management (PNGIRH) and its planning instruments. 2. Providing support for the organisation of the Regional Environmental Councils of the macro-river basins (CARMAC) - Operational strategic planning. 3. Providing support in structuring and improving the management of river basins and basin councils - Water resources planning and management at basin level. 4. Strengthening the Water Resources Information System (SIAC/SIRH) at the national and regional levels. Outcomes and prospects Main current results Assisting the MADS Directorate for IWRM (DGIRH) in the evaluation process of the National IWRM Policy and the articulation of IWRM plans and programmes; Technical support and operational recommendations for the development of the National Water Information System at the level of environmental authorities, Experience sharing on groundwater management, delineation and management of water protection areas, as well as wastewater reuse strategies Prospects New work perspectives, in line with the progress achieved, are being developed with partners at the national and pilot levels: - Support for DGIRH reflections on the evaluation of the first cycle of the National IWRM Policy and on the implementation of the next planning cycle; - Support for the development of the national Water Resources Information System interoperability with information system DBs that are available at the Regional Autonomous Corporations level; - Support for the strengthening of the Alto Chicamocha pilot basin council activities; - Support for the planning and implementation process of actions to address the cross-cutting issue of "Risk Management" in a context of adaptation to the effects of climate change. 13 COLOMBIA
