Key information Location River basins in South-East Brazil (States of Rio, São Paulo and Minas Gerais) Key words Governance, River basins, Knowledge, Gest'Eau, Planning. Objectives Support to these 2 important Brazilian basin organisations, on federal rivers, in governance, knowledge and information systems/data management. Implementation schedule 2019-2021 Project financed by Loire-Bretagne Water Agency Outcomes and prospects Main current results Detailed project description The Interagências Project aims to provide technical support to AGEVAP and the Basin Agency of PCJ in the field of integrated water resources management in their river basins. Its main goal is to consolidate the governance of the existing basin organisations in Brazil, in particular the river basin agencies and committees of the federal domain. Indirect beneficiaries will be: federal agencies, mainly the National Water Agency (ANA); "federal" basin committees (CEIVAP, Comitês PCJ); the sub-basin committees of Paraíba do Sul (CBH Médio Paraíba do Sul, Comitê Piabanha, CBH Rio Dois Rios, CBH Baixo Paraiba do Sul e Itabapoana, CBH Paraíba do Sul - Trecho Paulista, Comitê dos Afluentes Mineiros do Preto e Paraibuna, Comitê dos Afluentes Mineiros do Pomba e Muriaé, Comitê do Guandu); coastal basin committees (Comitê Guandu, CBG, CBIG); local stakeholders on site: administrators (moderators) and persons responsible for actions on the territory as well as stakeholders and moderators of payment projects for environmental services. - Strengthening the institutional organisation, training and skills transfer: Consolidation of the Basin Committees and Water Agencies;- - Progressive development of information systems and knowledge sharing. Focus on: There are many advances in Brazil on governance, planning, climate change adaptation, fees, and payments for environmental services. The experiences are rewarding, both at the level of large federal river basins and at the level of sub-basins. However, the lessons learned are not widely shared by stakeholders and decision-makers. This leads the project to design a Gest'Eau-type tool to facilitate the sharing of this extensive knowledge and promote better capitalisation at local, state and national levels. Prospects Synergies with the FASEP "Maru" project which will start in the 2nd quarter of 2021: monitoring of urban wastewater and its environmental impact, which will help in particular to prioritise investments in wastewater treatment in the 2 river basins concerned. 12 BRAZIL 12
