The right to water and water rights in a changing world

One of the major outcomes of the meeting has been the establishment of a joint initiative on Water and Peace by the Unesco-ihe Institute for Water Education (based in Delft, the Netherlands) and the UN-mandated University for Peace (Upeace, based in Costa Rica) in aid of combining the expertise and knowledge of both institutions in water and conflict resolution. As a result of the advocacy work by the Co-operative Programme on Water and Climate (cpwc) a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions was signed on 10 February 2011 in Delft.
