VISION
FOR WATER, LIFE AND THE ENVIRONMENT
TERMS OF REFERENCE
World Water Council
This Terms of Reference provides background information on the World Water Council and its objectives (ref. paragraphs 1 and 2), and proposes activities to elaborate the framework for the development of a long term Vision for Water, Life and the Environment (ref. paragraph 3).
The Council is an "International Water Policy Think Tank", its main objective being policy impact to improve fresh water management following the principles agreed upon during the Earth Summit (1992) and as set out in Chapter 18 of Agenda 21.
To fulfill its mission, the Council proposes to prepare a long-term vision for Water, Life and the Environment, integrating into an overall framework the various water-related activities that contribute to the improvement of the quality of life and the preservation of the environment.
