Le fleuve Rhône a fait l'objet dans la première moitié du siècle d'un schéma d'aménagement multiusage qui a été développé jusqu'à la fin des années 80. Ce schéma serait un parfait exemple d'approche global du développement durable par ses choix stratégiques et la possibilité de développement ultérieur qu'il offre encore, si la dimension environnementale avait été plus intégrée à la conception. Bien que marqué par l'aménagement, le Rhône conserve une valeur écologique certaine et de fortes potentialités de restauration qui justifient une stratégie de réhabilitation écologique. Il est possible sans porter préjudice aux autres usages, par des modifications de gestion ou d'ouvrage ou la réalisation d'ouvrages complémentaires de restaurer la qualité écologique du Rhône. Les axes d'action ont été définis. Il ne reste qu' à trouver le meilleur moyen de les intégrer au dispositif initial.

During the first half of this century, the river RHONE has been the object of a multipurpose development scheme which has been expanded up to the end of the 80’s. Thanks to its strategic choices and the possibilities of further development still preserved, this scheme would have been a perfect example of a global approach for a long-term development if the environmental aspects had been incorporated in the whole project. Although affected by this lack of environmental contemplation, the Rhone river still has an unquestionnable ecological value and beras a strong potential for restoration which allows and ecological renovation strategy.
It is possible to restore the ecological quality of the Rhône river without any detrimental effects to the other purposes of the scheme by implementing new equipments or modifying the existing ones and by adjusting the whole management.
The main paths for action have been defined. It remains to find out the best way to integrate them into the original scheme.

En la primera mitad del siglo, el río Ródano fue el objecto de un esquema de acondicionamiento multiuso desarrollado hasta finales de los años 80.
Este esquema sería un ejemplo perfecto de acercamiento global del desarrollo durable por sus elecciones estratégicas y la posibilidad de desarrollo ulterior que aún ofrece, si habia sido integrada la dimensión ambiental.
Aúnque marcado por ese olvido, el río Ródano conserva un valor ecolójico cierto y fuertes potencialidades de restauración que justificán una estrategia de rehabilitación ecológica. Es posible, sin llevar perjuicio a los otros usos, por modificaciones de gestión de obras o la realización de obras complementarias de restaurar la calidad ecológica del río Ródano. Los ejes de acciones han sido definidos.
Queda a encontrar la menera la más adecuada de intergrarlas al dispositivo inicial.
