THE EXPERIENCE OF MECTAT IN THE FIELD OF WATER CONSERVATION

Scarcity of fresh water is widespread in all corners of the Middle East and the Arab world. At MECTAT, private initiatives were mobilized to ameliorate the situation. Water related appropriate techniques that have been disseminated by MECTAT in the region include: the construction of Waterless/Odorless Sanitary Latrines and Ferrocement Water Storage Tanks; and, promotion of Minimum Irrigation Alternatives and Organic Farming. Those techniques were promoted through training workshops, technical booklets, audio visuals and personal contacts.
